What happens in Illinois if you are caught driving without insurance?

I set up automatic deductions for my brand new car and home from my checking account.
The Farm sent a post card and called an old defunct number saying we had insufficient funds and cancelled the account. My kid got stopped. I didn't know they weren't taking the money out. I was driving and living without insurance. Insane! My kid is worried about her driving record. My husband was allegedly taking care to see this account was solvent. Comcast changed our phone number on us after saying if we got a new line they wouldn't. The whole thing makes me sick. Thanks.

What happens? You vehicle can be impounded, you can be cited and fined, and your driving privileges and be suspended or revoked.
