Is it weird that my insurance agent wants to come to my house to meet in person?

I'm applying for homeowners insurance and my insurance agent wants to come to our house to meet and finalize policy details. Is this meeting out of the ordinary? We've never had an agent request to meet in person before, let alone come to our home and so we're a little skeptical as to why this is necessary. Any info/advice is appreciated.
Just to clarify, we haven't moved into the house we've recently purchased and are applying for insurance on. We're still living in our apartment and he wants to meet us there, so he can't want to meet with us to assess the property. Is this still typical and just great customer service? Or does it sound sketchy?

Sorry you got all wrong answers. That is kind of rare. Anyways, this is very common. Your lucky to find an insurance agent that actually wants to meet with you and see your home. It is a valuable experience where the agent can help you out if you have a claim because they have seen your home. In this day and age with the internet most insurance agents do not have the time to come and meet with you and inspect your home.

I think you are lucky to find an insurance agent that does things the right way.

++New++ It is more common for the agent to meet in his or her office. I would just ask for an appointment in the agent's office. There is no need for the agent to come to your apartment since it is not the home you are buying. It is a little strange. Have you dealt with this agent before or is this agent new to you? Contact the insurance agent that has your auto insurance first before making a deal with this agent. Are they the same agent? If not, contact your auto insurance agent first before doing anything.

One more thing. Has escrow closed? If the home has closed you have homeowners insurance but can still shop it around. If escrow has not closed now is the time to shop around. But, again, start with the auto insurance agent that has your auto insurance. You get discounts on the auto insurance and homeowners insurance if you keep both policies with the same company.
