life insurance for an 18 year old?

Postby Kristah56 » Sun Aug 01, 2010 2:01 pm

My parents recently bought me life insurance because of the insistence of my aunt who works for this company called Western Reserve Life Assurance. Now, I think my parents just got duped by my aunt into buying me life insurance and wanted to know more about this company. Does anyone have much info? And what is your opinion on my parents getting me life insurance? We are a low income family as it is, so I think it's really stupid, but I signed the papers anyway since they made me and I'm not footing the bill. -- $600 bucks a year -- for an 18 year old.. and my mom is complaining about my car insurance, yet she gladly pays for my life insurance! (and no, they're not planning to put a hit on me). Also, I am super healthy.. haven't been to the doctor in 2 years.. no kids.. don't smoke or drink.. good blood pressure.. I'm underweight, but that's just my body structure.. always have been.

Whether it's a "good deal" depends on the specifics of the policy - which you don't provide. Is it a whole life or term policy? What are the policy details? What is the face coverage amount? Without all the specifics, no one can judge - including you. Your health details are great, but that is irrelevant to judging the "value" of the policy. Life insurance needs to acquired while you are young and healthy - not after you develop health problems.

They're rated A+ XV - they're a great company. But I agree with you, because life insurance is probably pointless at your age.You have no goal you need it to accomplish, you're not married, you have no kids.People who say, "you buy it now while it's cheap", also advocate you running out to Home Depot to buy every power tool they have, because THOSE prices are only going to go up, also. Well, they don't, but it's the same POINT, so they should if they're not hypocrits.Pretty much the only people who advocate life insurance sales for kids - and you're still a kid - are the people who make a commission off of it. And it's a HEFTY commission - 95% the first year.
