health insurance for international student?

G'day,
If you are a new international student, the institution usually already put the fees for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) together with your tuition fees in their letter of offer. They will sort it out for you.
Once you have paid both the tuition fee and the OSHC, the institution will issue the eCOE which you can take to the Australian Embassy/High Comm to apply for your student visa. eCOE basically told the immigration that you have paid both. After you have arrived in Australia, you can then choose different provider when it's time to renew your OSHC.
There are only 3 OSHC provider, which is Worldcare, BUPA and MEDIBANK.
Hope this helps. Good luck on your study and welcome to Australia :)
